Teacher Stories
Our school was very privileged to be matched up with a donor who, once contacted, sent us at least 30 binders. We received the binders within 3-4 days following our contact. The binders have been distributed and put to very good use as a means for organizing classroom instructional materials. The teachers were very surprised, pleased, and grateful. Gwendolyn Thomas, Baldwin Elementary Baldwin, Louisiana
I have found that the donations we have received through iLoveSchools.com have been very useful. The people I have dealt with are very friendly and acquiring the donations has been rather pain free. I thank you for providing such a service to our school. Noel Bishop, Principal, Our Lady's School, San Diego, CA
It's amazing!!!! I put in a request for markers and two weeks later markers were sent to my school. It's like having a school fairy. My kids are excited and I am very, very grateful. Thanks for your help. Hilary Mitchell, Teacher, Washington School, Berkeley, CA
I just wanted to say how excited I am about your site! I am a K-1 teacher in an economically disadvantaged rural area. My kids don't have a lot of things, and as a single parent myself, I can't do as much for my kids as I would like. Your program gives me an opportunity to expand the learning opportunities for my students. Thank you so much! Karen K., Teacher
We are in desperate need of books for our students. As a Title 1 school, one of our main goals is that all students will read and comprehend on or above grade level. This year, in order to implement our reading program we are in need of books and supplies that go beyond our budget capabilities. We have an expectation that each of our 21 classrooms have a classroom collection of 500 books. Teacher, Mableton, GA
Thanks again for the match up. It was fun being on the news yesterday and I had a lot of people see and ask about the site. My students and I would like to thank you… Teacher, San Diego, CA
Our mascot is the star and that is what we strive to create – star students. With a building built in 1898, we need many improvements and updates. I try to fill my room with current teaching materials for the benefit of my students. We all do. Unfortunately these things are paid for with our salary. Any help we get only brightens the lives and futures of our Sherman star students. Teacher, St. Louis, MO
Our school has a population of students where 90% of our families are below the poverty level. Most students have minimal if any home involvement. Our students' parents also attended our school. We receive little or no supplies from our students' homes because of finances so our teachers, most of whom have been here for more than 10 years, are constantly purchasing supplies. We give freely of our time and energy to help our students succeed. It is the little things like supplies that fall through the cracks. When I asked my coworkers what little items they need, overwhelmingly they asked for pencils. Such little things to make the students days better. We would greatly appreciate any and all ‘little' assistance. Thanks so much for caring and donating. Teacher, Daytona Beach, FL

Incredible system. Your site defines on of the best uses of the internet. A very simple way to put together one party that has a very noble need with another that has some means — great idea and incredibly well implemented. Thanks for giving us the outlet to help such a worthwhile need. Ron Levy

I bought things like paper towels, soap, colored pencils, markers, file folders, rubber cement and Kleenex for an amazing 22-year old teacher.
Most of her students live with grandparents, aunts, uncles, guardians or others. A lot of their fathers are in jail; moms are on drugs — some have relinquished custody to grandparents or great-grandparents.
When she arrived at the school last fall, she was told she could order classroom supplies up to a value of $150. She submitted a list and received only a few items she did not order plus one or two she did, none of which came close to totaling $150. The school has no soap, no toilet paper in the bathrooms, no markers for boards, no pencils or papers for students. The only items supplied are textbooks. There weren't any fun books to read so she went to yard sales, Salvation Army and begged librarian friends to give her old children's books instead of throwing them away. She uses Christmas lights instead of the harsh overhead to light her room.
So far this year, she's spent approximately $5,000 of her salary money on school supplies for her 18 students. She loves her kids. When she saw the Costco package with rolls of paper towels, her eyes filled up. You would have thought I'd brought her gold. Dr. Jane Bick
My experiences in the Long Beach public schools were incredible and I will always worship the teachers who showed me so much encouragement. My sister is a teacher in Long Beach and I have friends who are teachers-teachers bear so much responsibility for the future of our society-if the website provides even a very small and simple way of showing appreciation for all that I received from my teachers, then you have my whole hearted support. Greg S.
While my donation was small the students sent me wonderful hand made thank-you's using the markers to express their appreciation. They made my day! Janet Johnson
In my view the site provides a tremendous service which makes a real difference to teachers and helps to improve the children's education expereince. It's refreshing to discover an entity which enables people to connect and help each other out with no motivation other than because that's what we are supposed to do. Well done! Tim Fournier
